Need to remodel your front yard but don't have the funds to do it? Although it may not be "as easy as pie", here are some ways you can have a beautifully landscaped yard without spending your hard-earned money and maybe get a little tanned while doing it:
1) Make the flower beds about four to six feet wide. This ensures you have room for more flowers. To make the flowers really come alive, use mulch that is the same color as the soil.
2) If your plants are overgrown or dreary, replace them with new shrubs or perennials. Plant two or three rows of the new seedlings and make sure to place the smaller plants in front of the larger ones. You can find out how big they will grow by looking for the mature size on the seed package.
3) You will need to pick one large plant to be the focal point of your newly landscaped yard. This can be something like a dwarf tree or a large shrub. It should be placed in line with a structural component of the property.
4) Ditch the electric trimmers. Even though you may think these will be easier and faster, they produce a generic cookie-cutter look. Give your shrubs and plants some character by using good ol' fashioned hand-held pruners.
