Drought Resistant Shrubs That Are Easy to Care For

The lavender star. As the name suggests, the flower is in the shape of a star and is usually purple but can also be pinkish. It can grow up to ten feet tall and needs plenty of sunlight. It is a very tough plant and blooms year round.
The desert honeysuckle can grow up to six feet, with orange colored flowers that are tubular in shape. It only needs a good watering twice a month to survive. Full sun is the best but it will also do well in slight shade.
The mao hau hele or yellow hibiscus is the Hawaii state flower. Another good hibiscus is the kokio keokeo. These flowers are white with a long red stamen sprouting out of the middle. This hibiscus is unique in that it produces a sweet scent and most hibiscus plants do not.
The dwarf pomegranate has flowers that are a yellow or orange and are long and tubular. This shrub’s fruit is edible.
The Japanese garden juniper. This plant is often used a bonsai tree but grows great as a small shrub. This plant will spread so be sure to plant in an area that will give it plenty of room to do so. It is very tough and can take both heat and cold weather. Its leaves are a great blue-green color.
