What would cause a man who was raised on a farm in Oklahoma and who sold milk to make ends meet become the founder of a leading chain of stores called Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club? Or who would have thought that a single mother raising her daughter on welfare would write a world renown series called Harry Potter? And what about that young man who grew up in the projects of Brooklyn, whose father was a truck driver, and who eventually placed his Starbucks store in 16,600 locations? If you were in their shoes would you have the faith to succeed?
I often wonder what a successful person would say if they were shown what they would eventually accomplish while in their younger days. I’m sure most may not have envisioned it quite as it turned out. But I’m certain that all of them had some measure of faith to continue on despite their circumstances. Here are a few ways that faith can help you to succeed.
Faith is the desire to move forward regardless of the outcome. We can never be guaranteed of our success. The only guarantee is that we have within our power the ability to make decisions that can get us closer to our goal.
Faith helps us along despite our fear. Fear is not the opposite of faith. Many who have faith still have fear but they go for it anyway.
Faith is not limited by our ability or circumstance. The best part of being human is that we have the uncanny ability to go beyond our limitations. We weren’t created with a pre-set program hardwired into our system. The faith that we have allows us to ignore the expectations of others and to do more than we thought possible.
Every successful person begins with a seed of faith. It is this faith that will carry us to our goal.
