Hawaii Golf Courses Luring Japanese Investor

Single family house and condominiums were not jus destinations for Japanese investors. Ownership of golf courses is changing from Chinese to Japanese as more Japanese investor started to buy golf course recently.

Hoakalei Country Club in Ewa

Japan’s Hirakawa Shoji Group which owns a golf course in Japan and golf-related businesses bought the course for about $25 million. 248-acre’s course was designed by a professional golfer, Ernie Els and has18 holes. The group is planning to renovate a system while they rehire employees, build new facilities and maintain the course’s quality within 2 years.

Kapolei golf Course

Kapolei golf Course is in the process of being sold by an unidentified Japanese investor. Pacific Links Hawaii which is a subsidiary of Pacific Links International owned the course. This golf coursehosted the LPGA Tour’s Ladies Hawaiian Open from 1996 to 2001. 80 bunkers and five lakes provide delight for golfers.

Also, a West Oahu golf course was acquired by Japanese investor last year. It seems more Japanese investor will continue to plow money into golf courses on Oahu.
