Remodeling Trends for 2013

The Neil Kelly Company, a remodeling company based in Portland, Ore., compiled a list of the biggest remodeling trends for 2013. Here are some worth noting:

Countertops – While granite isn’t going away, the new king of countertops is quartz composite — the closest thing to no maintenance, bullet-proof countertop materials available today.
Glass Backsplashes – Glass mosaic tile is on the way out. Replacing it are glass/stone/tile mosaic composites that add more texture and visual interest and can more easily tie in with stone or quartz countertops.
Simple Deep Sinks – Goodbye double-sinks, hello deep single-bowl sinks. With accessories such as fitted colanders and dish drains, deep single-bowl sinks have all the benefits of a divided sink and the large size allow that roasting pan or baking sheet to actually fit into the sink. While stainless is still popular, quartz composites sinks are a great value and durable option.
Healthy, Green Living – Green, sustainable designs are here to stay. More and more homeowners are taking advantage of federal and state incentives to evaluate their home’s energy efficiency and performance. Families want to create a healthy living environment, free of toxins and harsh chemicals.
